Who We Are

At 200 years old, the Academy of Medicine of Cleveland & Northern Ohio (AMCNO) is one of the oldest medical societies in the country, and the oldest professional society in Ohio. We are proud stewards of Cleveland’s medical community of the past, present, and future. 

What We Do

  • Advocacy and Public Policy: Represent physicians before the Ohio General Assembly, State Medical Board, and other state and federal regulatory boards, working collaboratively with hospitals, community organizations and other medical associations.
  • Events: Host social and networking events for physicians and medical students.
  • Legal: Participate in amicus briefs on cases which impact the medical profession.
  • Practice Resources: Provide information on latest practice requirements and provide connections to community resources for your patients.
  • Communication and Public Relations: Keep members informed of changes and developments in the medical community at the local, state and national levels and cultivate media and community relationships throughout Northeast Ohio to keep the issues of importance to organized medicine at the forefront.
  • Public Health: Participate in collaborative public health activities in the community. 
  • Education: Provide educational opportunities and programming for our members, and support to area medical students.
  • Community: Offer community services, such as physician referrals and the Pollen Line.
