- Cleveland City Council unanimously passed Tanisha’s Law, which is intended to build on the city’s progress in dealing with emergency calls about people experiencing a mental health crisis.

- The Health Policy Institute of Ohio (HPIO) recently shared that the average lifetime cost of a smoker in Ohio is nearly $4 million according to a new report.
From Washington
- H.R. 842 / S. 339, the Nancy Gardner Sewell Medicare Multi-Cancer Early Detection Screening Coverage Act, has been officially signed into law - marking one of the most significant cancer policy advancements in years. AMCNO supported this legislation as part of the Prevent Cancer Foundation's coalition.
- Data released this week by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services shows that 469,616 Ohioans enrolled in Affordable Care Act (ACA) marketplace coverage in the open enrollment period that ended Jan. 15, a decrease of nearly 114,000 from last year (20%)
- The National Center for Health Statistics report found that the average U.S. life expectancy hit an all-time high in 2024.
